Just received my new waffle plates and I absolutely love them!! I almost did not order due to the review before me, someone said the waffles stuck to the plates! So glad I decided to give it a try for myself.
As the instructions say, before the first use, lightly oil plates. ** DO NOT use aerosol cooking spray as the chemicals in it can build up and reduce efficiency.** ( I put some olive oil in an empty squirt on salad dressing bottle.) Squirted it on the plates, then spread across with my silicone brush. Just to make sure they did not stick, I did this the first 2 times I poured my batter in. The third time still came out perfect, without adding more oil.

I really wanted this to work, I thought the 360 would eliminate several other pieces of kitchen electronics. So far I have only used the waffle plates. I followed directions exactly, pouring 1 1/2C of waffle mix onto the plate, spread evenly onto the plate. I had to dig and scrape the waffle in pieces off of the plate. The kids had waffle crumbs. I tried a 2nd time, this time pouring the 1 1/2C of mix primarily onto the center area of the plate taking up about 2/3 rd of the plate. I did manage to get 'most' of this off but it was still difficult and not 100% and definitely not as pictured on box. Think next time, if I am courageous, I may try about 2C mix.

use cooking oil
Posted November 25, 2011
according to the other reviews, it is ok to brush on a little cooking oil instead of using a spray; not sure what the difference is but I do it with my waffle iron and it works fine - does not damage the non-stick coating

LOVE THIS PRODUCT
Posted November 24, 2011
I use at least two sets of the plates daily. I LOVE THIS GRILL. I've had it for nearly a year now and it is just totally AWESOME!! I'd say any complaints are contributed to somewhere by operator error!
THANK YOU GEORGE. I've used the grills for over 10 years. Wore several completely out. But I dearly love the removable plates!!!

Patience
Posted June 14, 2011
Have patience - the pan usually takes time to 'bake-in" and to clean wipe it with a cloth. A spoon full of vegetable oil in the waffle mix also works well. Hope you have fun and that the kids have friends over for waffles real soon.

the instructions for the grill plates say not to use spray on them because it coats up and eventually wrecks them. how do you stop the waffles from coming off in pieces if you don't use spray?

Use Pam for Grilling

Try spraying the grill plates with Pam for Grilling first, this should solve your problem.
